These pictures were taken at RNAS Yeovilton on September 29 2001 at a reunion open to all ex-Sea Vixen fliers, maintenance crews and partners. There were also some aviation enthusiasts in attendance.
The subject of the photographs was Sea Vixen Mk2 XP 924 which finished its front line flying duties with 899 Squadron operating from HMS Eagle.
A limited edition (500) print has been made available by Buccaneer Distributions, from which the last picture on this page is a detail. Details of the source of this print can be found by viewing the last pair of images, on page 16. A larger version of this print detail is available by clicking on the image on that page. Many of the other images also have larger versions which can be fetched similarly.
The pilot for the display was Dan Griffith who has an impressive list of aircraft types in his log book which, apart from the Sea Vixen, includes: Bulldog, Jet Provost 5, Hawk, Harrier, F4, F15,F16,F18 and F18(HARV), F100, Canberra, HS 748, Airbus A330-200, A340-600, Boeing 737-600 to 900, Falcon 50/900EX, BAe 146 RJX, TU 204, Bell Augusta 609 Tilt Rotor, A380, Czech Aero L159, Romanian IAR Soim, Spitfire, Hurricane, Mustang, Avenger, Venom, Vampire, Hunter and Meteor.
Note that the captions and commentary are not yet definitive and I welcome any anecdotes from ex Sea Vixen personnel.
